Rocket Boat
I hope you enjoyed my latest video on the small rocket hydroplanes I’ve been messing around with over the last month. They’re a lot of fun and I think you should make some too. Here is a 'file kit' where you can download the STL files and instructions to build your own. They make great desk models.
Do not try launching these with rocket motors at home. You do so at your own risk!
Needed to complete:
- 25mm x 25mm thin brass sheet (or other metal) for rudder
- 1x 8mm x 100mm/120mm/140mm OD carbon tube (or other 8mm tube/rod)
What are file kits? Well, lots of people have been asking me about sharing files, plans, and detailed info about each of my builds. I’ve always wanted to do this but haven’t had the time to produce quality STL files, designs, and instructions (as usually I’m onto the next video by then). I could share the rough and ready files that I use, but that wouldn’t always be that helpful for you.
Instead, it seems much better for me to take the extra time to produce nicely packaged folders of STL files, proper documentation and instructions, essentially treating these things virtual kits. This way, you’ll be able to successfully build many of the planes, boats, rockets, and other vehicles I’ve built in my videos as you’ll have all the info you’ll need in one place. Hopefully, you won’t mind the few quid each kit costs, as all of that goes towards supporting my YouTube videos!
